Multi-faceted musician Anderson .Paak has recently announced that his band, the Free Nationals, will be releasing more music this year, as reported by Triple J.
The band — consisting of Jose Rios, Ron Tnava Avant, Kelsey Gonzales, and Callum Connor — recently revealed that they are “putting the finishing touches” on a project that is expected to debut this summer. Collaborations with the likes of Mac Miller, Kali Uchis, and Daniel Caesar have been confirmed, while appearances from T.I. and Unknown Mortal Orchestra are also hopeful.
In addition to news of the Free Nationals album, Anderson .Paak also spoke on his upcoming solo works. He’s currently in the lab with Dr. Dre, curating the follow-up to 2016’s Malibu.
“[Dre] had a heavy role in this new album that’s almost done,”.Paak told Triple J. “I won’t say any dates, but you can definitely expect it this year sometime.” “It’s dope to be around like legends like that and you can feel the mutual respect. That’s what I always did it for, I wasn’t really thinking about money or fame, I just wanted the respect from the people I look up to musically. It’s amazing.”
Anderson .Paak will also make an appearance on the Kendrick Lamar-curated soundtrack to Marvel’s Black Panther.
